How does the selection process work?

The Community Selection Committee considers the following factors when evaluating applications: academic performance, community service, extra-curricular activities and financial need. Other than the financial information to assess an applicant’s financial need, the required information is obtained from the application, applicant's essay and personal interview.

The Selection Committee uses an independent party, Mr. Michael Tedesco, to assess your financial need and maintain the confidentiality of your financial information. Mr. Tedesco uses the completed FAFSA and Student Aid Report, which is only produced by the filing of the FAFSA, to assign to you a financial assistance rating. You may also submit a letter describing any special circumstances that Mr. Tedesco should consider when assigning your financial assistance rating. Mr. Tedesco then provides the financial assistance rating to the Selection Committee. No member of the Community Scholarship Fund Board, including the members of the Selection Committee, will have access to an applicant’s financial information. All financial information will be kept strictly confidential.
